Moving from QuickBooks Online

  1. Open Import and choose Connect QuickBooks. Sign in to Intuit and pick your company. RiverBooks only reads it.
  2. Choose how much to bring:
    • Balances as of the start date: chart of accounts, customers, vendors, products and services, open invoices and unpaid bills, and an opening balance for every account on the day before your start date.
    • Every transaction since a date: the same, plus each transaction, so past years’ reports work in RiverBooks.
  3. Pick your start date (usually the first of a month) and choose Preview the import. Nothing is written; you see counts and any notes.
  4. Choose Import. When it finishes, RiverBooks compares each account’s balance with QuickBooks. “Matches QuickBooks” means every account agrees to the cent; otherwise the differences are listed.
  5. Stop entering transactions in QuickBooks from the start date on.

You can run the import again; transactions that haven’t changed are skipped.

Not on QuickBooks Online? Import customers, vendors, products and journal entries from CSV files on the same page.
